The route
Meet at North Star for coffee, then a gentle loop of Leeds Dock, the River Aire towpath to Granary Wharf, and back along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Almost entirely traffic-free, flat, and waterside: ideal for walking side-by-side (about 4.8 km, 70–90 minutes).
Getting there
Leeds Dock is a 15-minute walk from Leeds station. North Star has indoor and outdoor seating: allow 20–30 minutes for coffee before setting off.

- Comfy shoes are fine. Bring a coat: it can be breezy on the towpath.
